Well everyone, the Indiegogo campaign is now closed. 111 of you stepped forward and contributed. We ended up raising £5,474 on Indiegogo, 64 % of our stated goal. Some of you (including myself) dug deep, and acquired an Alasdair Gray print. Others kicked us a tenner by buying an album, and some even made outright gifts to the campaign, ranging from £20 to £1000. Each and every contribution is appreciated equally.
Thank you everyone! You are yourselves the visionaries who have made Songs for Scotland 2 possible.
So what’s next?
Native Musicians: Songs for Scotland 2 (the album) and other perks
The album is mastered and ready for upload barring one track, which is being rerecorded as I write this. I expect album codes will be going out within two weeks, and other perks as well – postcards, mugs etc.
I’m thrilled with the album! I believe we have succeeded in assembling the very best of Scottish music in a single compilation, and that all of us will be enjoying this music, by a group of great and committed artists, for years to come. And of course we’ll be listening to it while we canvass for a ‘Yes’ vote in the next independence referendum.
‘Work as if you live in the early days of a better nation’.
An Evening for Alasdair Gray – November 29th in the Oran Mor Auditorium
Yes, we’ll be doing the event. No, we didn’t make our stated target, but between Indiegogo and private contributions we’ve raised almost £7500. Staging the event will therefore still require ticket sales – although many of you have wisely already secured your tickets via Indiegogo contributions.
We can do this event, and we must and will do it, for Alasdair.
What will the event be? It will be brilliant! As before, we’ll be lighting up Alasdair’s murals in the Oran Mor, and we’ll have music. I’m still firming up the programme, but I can certainly give you a taste. The simply AMAZING Emma Pollock has graciously agreed to come and sing a few songs for Alasdair!
Alan Bissett will be our compere. Any who joined us at the Songs for Scotland event in 2014 will remember how brilliantly entertaining Alan was that night in his own right.
1. We will be awarding an Alasdair Gray signed print as a door prize on the night of November 29th.
2. The National will continue to feature profiles of pro independence artists on the album, by Nan Spowart, usually publishing on Monday.

Again, to all of our wise and wonderful contributors (who already have tickets to what promises to be quite a night, on November 29th): THANK YOU!
