This is a brilliant speech by Chris Hedges, one of his best.
I have watched Hedges thinking grow and change over the years, and now it has become mature — I wonder if he’ll ever find anything new to say? This is dark, but beautiful. He always returns in his work to the role that art and music, as handmaidens to the imagination, must perforce play both in rebellion against the forces that enslave us, and in our personal redemption.
